Overview
The Library and Information Centre conducts year-round academic activities to strengthen reading, research, and digital literacy among students and faculty. These activities include workshops, orientation sessions, awareness programs, and hands-on training on library platforms and scholarly resources.
Through department-wise events and collaborative initiatives, the library promotes practical use of subscribed databases, open-access content, and institutional knowledge tools. Each activity is designed to improve information skills, encourage independent learning, and support the overall academic excellence of the SVCE community.
2025
Extensive Collection: A rich repository of textbooks, reference books, national & international journals, e-books, and digital resources. Digital Library Access: Availability of online databases, e-journals, and institutional repositories for advanced research. Quiet & Collaborative Spaces: Well-designed reading halls, discussion rooms, and study areas to suit different learning styles. Automation & Smart Systems: Integrated library management system for easy access, search, and borrowing of resources. Wi-Fi Enabled Environment: Seamless internet connectivity for uninterrupted research and study.
In 2025, the SVCE Library is set to host an enriching series of hands-on workshops under the banner of “Empowering Academic Excellence: Series of Workshops on VTU Consortium Platforms.” These workshops aim to equip students and faculty with essential research skills, advanced tools, and expert insights to enhance their academic and professional growth. Collaborating with prestigious publishers such as Elsevier, IEEE, Taylor & Francis, Springer Link, ProQuest, Knimbus, and Drillbit, the sessions will be led by industry experts, offering in-depth knowledge on accessing, utilizing, and leveraging digital resources effectively. Through interactive learning experiences and real-world applications, participants will develop proficiency in navigating academic databases, refining research methodologies, and staying updated with emerging trends in scholarly communication. This initiative reinforces SVCE’s commitment to fostering a research-driven learning environment, ensuring that students and faculty members are well-equipped to excel in their academic endeavors. Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering (SVCE), Bengaluru, hosted an insightful session titled "Innovative Learning & Development: Exploring the Library Website for MBA Excellence." Organized by the Library and Information Centre & Dept. of MBA in collaboration with IETE, IEEE Bengaluru, IIC, and IQAC, the event guided students on leveraging digital library resources for academic and professional growth. Dr. Dundappa Amoji, Chief Librarian, SVCE, led the session, which was presided over by Dr. Shashidhar Muniyappa and Dr. B. M. Satish. The session took place on 19th February 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Data Science Lab, SVCE, providing an enriching learning experience.
The transformative journey "From Idea to Impact" unfolded at SVCE on 29th January 2025! A motivational session exclusively designed for MCA students brought innovation and practicality together through the SVCE Library Website. Organized by the Library and Information Centre in collaboration with the Department of MCA, IIC, and ED Cell, the event featured inspiring insights from Dr. Dundappa Amoji, Chief Librarian, SVCE. Held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Data Science Lab, the session empowered students with tools and ideas to excel academically and innovate effectively. It was a remarkable opportunity to redefine impact!
On the occasion of National Librarian’s Day, commemorating the 133rd Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India, SVCE Library & Information Centre, in collaboration with the Department of MBA, IIC, and IQAC, organized a Case Study Presentation Event on Lean Start-Up & Minimum Viable Product/Business on 12th August 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall, SVCE. The session was graced by Ms. Neha Shukla, Inside Sales Representative, Emerald Publishing (South & West India Markets), who shared valuable insights on innovation, entrepreneurship, and business models. The event not only celebrated the legacy of Dr. Ranganathan but also inspired students and faculty to embrace creativity, resourcefulness, and practical learning
The SVCE Library & Information Centre organized a Department-wise Hands-on Library Discovery Workshop on 23rd August 2025 at R102, under the theme “Discover, Connect, Excel.” The workshop, designed for both faculty and students, provided practical guidance on effectively navigating and utilizing the SVCE Library Website (https://library.svcengg.edu.in/) to explore e-resources, databases, and digital collections. With interactive demonstrations, the session aimed to enhance research skills, promote independent learning, and empower participants to make the best use of library services for academic and professional growth.

The hands-on workshop titled "Empowering MBA Students with the Data Analytics Tool: Power BI" is organized by the Library & Information Centre in collaboration with the Department of Master of Business Administration at Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering (SVCE), Bengaluru. This event, presided over by key leadership from SVCE, aims to provide MBA students with practical skills in Power BI, a powerful data analytics tool from Microsoft. The session will be led by Dr. Dundappa Amoji, Chief Librarian at SVCE, and is scheduled for 25th September 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the R111 Computer Lab.
Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE), Bengaluru, organized a Business Case Study Analysis event in celebration of National Librarian’s Day on 4th September 2024. The event honored Padmashri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. Organized by the Department of Library and Information Centre in collaboration with the Department of Master of Business Administration, the event was presided over by Dr. Shashidhar Muniyappa, Managing Director of SVEF, Bengaluru, and Dr. Nageswara Guptha M, Principal of SVCE. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. S. Vinaya Kumar, Senior Business Manager for South India, Sri Lanka, and Maldives at EMERALD Publishing. The event, featuring a distinguished panel and coordinated by key faculty members, was held at the SVCE Auditorium from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm IST.
