SVCE Bengaluru

ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Overview

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at SVCE, Bangalore, is a hub of research, innovation, and industry engagement. With expertise spanning 6G wireless networks, 5G MIMO channel modelling, autonomous ship navigation, VANET traffic management, VLSI- based image and video processing, robotics, automation, and biomedical devices, the department combines theoretical advances with practical applications of high societal relevance.

The faculty of the department have successfully secured sponsored projects from leading agencies such as VGST, AICTE, DST and VTU in domains such as security systems for ATM, low- cost antenna for high performance wireless communication, sustainable energy, accident avoidance in manholes and intelligent off-grid system for energy-sustainable villages. The department is engaged in competency development and consultancy projects in the emerging domains of IoT, robotics, wireless communications and healthcare technologies, strengthening academia–industry linkages and creating opportunities for collaborative innovation.

The department nurtures a vibrant student innovation culture. Students regularly participate in national and international competitions, including the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) and other innovation challenges, and have secured awards for impactful solutions. This ecosystem enhances their technical expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial confidence.

Future directions focus on three key areas: next-generation wireless and networks (AI-native 6G, semantic communication, secure protocols), intelligent autonomy and robotics (multi-domain autonomous systems, sensor fusion, adaptive control), and electronics for healthcare and smart systems (wearables, IoT-enabled medical devices, and VLSI-driven low-power solutions).

With its blend of emerging research, project initiatives, consultancy, and student-driven innovation, the ECE Department at SVCE is steadily advancing towards becoming a centre for technology and societal impact.
